Presidio Cultural Institution
As semi-finalists, KV+Associates and Mark Cavagnero Architects created and presented the concepts of "Altered Lands", a cultural institution at the former Presidio commissary that proposed program, education and master planning concepts for consideration to the Presidio Trust board. The Bay Revealed, Sierras to GG
KV+Associates with XRez, developed a proposal to produce Bay Revealed, Voyage from the Sierras to the Golden Gate, a proposed signature film for the Aquarium of the Bay on Fisherman's Wharf. The story explores four distinct environments in this complex ecosystem. Use of real-world terrain combined with visual effects engages viewers by flying above, then diving into the waters below to experience each unique ecosystem like never before - from the perspective of birds and fish. Tahoe/Truckee Arts and Culture
KV+Associates and Atilier.Kathleen Brown responded to an RFP for a strategic feasibility plan to review current arts and culture of the Truckee - North Lake Tahoe region landscape and evaluate the role of local governments, agencies, and stakeholders in supporting arts and culture in the region. The study was to examine existing arts and culture venues / evaluate potential future options / evaluate potential local and visitor demand / quantify benefits that support the regional economy.
Julia Morgan North Star House
KV+Associates won planning grant funding to restore North Star House, a Julia Morgan building on the historic landmark register built in 1905, just before her rise to architectural fame. The mansion is an Arts & Crafts building made from mining slag and is part of a larger 14-acre complex of buildings originally associated with the successful silver mining industry in the Sierra Nevada foothills.
Santa Barbara Natural History Museum
As part of a strategic planning and management analysis, KV+Associates in collaboration with Atelier.Kathleen Brown, conducted a preliminary needs assessment analysis report and benchmark comparable for the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. As the musuem reached its 100th year, it was re-evaluating its role and setting its future.
Ellis Island Conference Center
KV+Associates in collaboration with Altier.Kathleen Brown conducted a demand analysis concerning 30 buildings on the south side of Ellis Island, an area formerly used for immigrants refused or delayed entry to the US due primarily to health issues. The research considered a themed conference center focusing on contemporary public health and immigration issues. KV+A also explored the possibilities of educational tourism, preservation organizations and pharmaceuticals.
